On April 25, Einstein’s Alley Institute held a conference, “The Future of Work Part 3”, which focused on the significant changes in our workplace coming from technology, including robotics and AI, immigration and government policies.
I experienced mind expansion on Tuesday afternoon as I listened to a panel of incredibly accomplished professionals on the future of work. It seems as the intersection of humans, robots & infrastructure wander to & fro I sense the world may be benefiting in some ways and recoiling in others. I for one am excited and think there is huge potential upside.
As excited as I am about the future, I am equally as cautious about disruptive technologies that may be lurking around the corner. I am often thinking about the potential "Uber-ization" of my industry and have not sensed I am in any acute danger.... yet.
Following on this recurring detective work, I am always reminded of how canny my Father was in creating a company some 46 years ago with such staying power. I always come home to the fact that the fine work our professionals perform for our customers everyday will be needed for many years into the future.
